Hi, my name is Shahin Ansari. I’m a first generation Iranian American that grew up in the hills of Altadena. Growing up I practiced “Tarof”, the art of welcoming people with open arms, treating each person as if they were family.
My goal as a photographer is to capture the intimate, emotional connection of the human landscape, the faces, the space they live in, the motion and the emotion. I explore the moment that feels like a heightened illustration of life and experiment with what comes before and after. Through the intimacy of the eyes, the energy of motion, the use of non-traditional techniques, I want to share my imagery with others in a way that allows them to experience their own sense of tarof.
